Indeed, today is an era of remakes. Next up is "Scarface" 2018, a remake of Brian de Palma's 1983 crime movie starring Al Pacino.

For those who are not familiar with this classic film, "Scarface" tells the story of how a Cuban refugee in Miami became a famous drug kingpin. Also starring Steven Bauer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Michelle Pfeiffer, the movie was a box-office hit with $65.9 million in overall sales against a budget of $25 million. Thus, it is not surprising for "Scarface" 2018 to have the same or to go beyond expectations.

According to Variety, Universal Pictures, the same studio who distributed the original "Scarface" movie, has just asked Joel and Ethan Coen to polish the script for its remake. A release date was also announced, which will happen on August 10, 2018. It can be recalled that the award-winning Coen brothers have been recently asked to polish the scripts of "Unbroken" and "Bridge of Spies" as well, clearly making them the perfect guys for the job.

According to Den of Geek, Diego Luna has also been confirmed to take on the lead role. He is best known for his role as Captain Cassian Andor in "Star Wars: Rogue One." But as one of the first movies that were shown violent enough to be questioned and X-rated by the Motion Picture Association of America back in the '90s, some people might just ask why anyone in the world wants to portray Al Pacino's Tony Montana all over again.

Well, the reason for this is quite simple. Al Pacino had a grandiose performance as Tony Montana despite the critical reception of the movie. Considering that Diego Luna is also known to have brilliant acting skills, even winning a number of awards in the past including Best Actor, it is entirely possible for the remake to be another box-office hit.

Stay tuned for more updates on the remake of "Scarface."
