BlackBerry released over the weekend an official photo showing details of the BlackBerry Mercury's launch.

The teaser, containing the actual photo of the BlackBerry Mercury, has the date, time and place of the launch printed as Feb. 25, 2017 at 7 p.m. in Barcelona, Spain. It also contains the hashtag #BlackBerryMobile.

According to a report released by Phone Arena, the teaser appears to be official due to the photo's lack of the use of the name BlackBerry Mercury.

It went on to say that Mercury is just a code name for the device, and that the official name of the phone unit will be made at the aforementioned date and time by BlackBerry.

Rumors about the new BlackBerry's specs include a 4.5-inch display, Snapdragon 625 octa-core CPU, Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB RAM, 3400mAh battery, 18MP main camera and 8MP secondary camera, QWERTY keyboard fingerprint scanner and a Type-C USB port. The cameras' sensors allegedly use the same ones that the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL use.

Meanwhile, The Express predicts that the upcoming BlackBerry Mercury phone will be "one of the most impressive phones of the year."

It also highly advised BlackBerry fans who have not yet bought the Canadian company's previous flagship phone, the Android-run BlackBerry Priv - which was recently updated to run on Android 6.0 - to adopt a wait-and-see stance pending the Mercury's official launching.

The Mercury is expected to take the same path that the late 2015-released Priv did, as speculations indicate that the new phone will most likely have run on the latest Android OS.

There are no rumors or speculations as to how much the BlackBerry Mercury will cost.

No doubt, everyone is waiting for every bit of official information that BlackBerry will release regarding what will be its next flagship phone - and it's just another week-and-a-half's worth of waiting period.
