"Green Lantern Corps" is still far off from its expected premiere in 2020. However, the production has yet to officially name who will play the Green Lanterns from Earth.

Sector 2814 is a region of space where Earth is located has had its share of active Green Lanterns. Though not the first, Hal Jordan is the most well known of all, followed closely by John Stewart. Incidentally, Star Sapphire who wields a different color power ring is also from Earth.

However, Warner Bros. Green Lantern Corps still has to find actors who would play the titular roles of Green Lanterns of Earth. According to The Wrap, DC entertainment has fielded a shortlist of actors they are considering to play the part of Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern Corps," namely:

  • Tom Cruise
  • Jake Gyllenhaal
  • Armie Hammer
  • Bradley Cooper
  • Joel McHale
  • Ryan Reynolds

From above, what may grab anyone's attention is the inclusion of Ryan Reynolds in the shortlist. Everyone knows he played "Green Lantern" Hal Jordan in 2011, which was frowned upon by both critics and fans. However, Reynolds redeemed himself after garnering success for "Deadpool."

The upcoming "Green Lantern Corps" is being marketed as a "Lethal Weapon in space." It would be a disservice to the fans if other Emerald Knights of Sector 2814 will not be featured in the movie.

Three other Green Lanterns exist in the same timeline in the DC Universe: John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner. Forget about casting Jordan and Stewart for a minute, there are talks that a third Lantern might be part of the film. Kyle Rayner has been rumored to be a part of the movie, Cinema Blend reported.

Actors Tyrese Gibson and Lance Gross have openly expressed their desire to be considered for the role of John Stewart. Adding to the list is rapper, Common, who is still down with playing the role as well. Now that DC revealed its shortlist for Hal Jordan, will there be a shortlist for John Stewart?

As of press time, the casting process is still up in the air. No talks have been going on with any of the actors as of yet. One thing is sure; there is no shortage of actors, who would want to be part of, "Green Lantern Corps."

Warner Bros. picked David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to pen the script for "Green Lantern Corps." Goyer will play double duty as producer while DC Entertainment president Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will executive produce. Now fans will just have to wait what treatment Goyer and Johns dish out for the Emerald Knights come 2020.

Meanwhile, Comicbook.com has their own dream cast to play Green Lanterns and other prominent roles in the movie, see it in the video below.
