An iPhone 6 Plus user from Florida posted online sometime last week that her phone suddenly burst into flames while it charged on a nightstand.

"It woke me up... the flames itself (sic). There was no warning," CBS news affiliate WTSP reported Amanda Bentz of Tampa Bay as saying, pertaining to her iPhone 6 Plus' explosive episode.

"It didn't start sparking, smoking... nothing. Out of nowhere it just burst into flames," she added.

She was using an Apple charger to recharge her phone when the incident occurred.

Kyle, Bentz's husband, posted the ordeal on his Facebook page, warning people to be wary of charging any phone next to them as they slept.

"It's a little scary waking up to your wife's iPhone 6 Plus on fire right next to her head," Kyle narrated.

"It was blowing fire out scorched her pillow case earrings and drapes... Not sure what happened it's something internal because charger was not warm at all," he continued.

Together with his post are pictures of what remained of the phone and the damage it caused.

WTSP said the couple contacted Apple immediately, and that Apple is currently investigating the incident.

Bentz is expecting to get a replacement device, and for them to also replace her husband's phone which is of the same model bought the same day as hers - 2 1/2 years ago from Sprint.

Apple has requested for a $749 hold on Bentz's credit card, which will be released back to her once she has shipped the damaged iPhone back to the company.

A similar incident occurred on the last day of January, involving Greg Micelli who returned from an out-of-town trip and woke up Tuesday morning to see his iPhone 6 Plus also in ruins after charging it as he slept. He coincidentally lives near the Bentz's.
