Meanwhile, the first "Fifty Shades of Grey" earned $85 million during its opening weekend and made $166 million in the US.
However, according to reports, the opening day for "Fifty Shades Darker" won't fall on February 14, which is a factor that could affect its viewership. "Fifty Shades of Grey" in 2015 was released during Valentine's Day, which helped it became a massive hit. Since it's a romantic thriller, it fits the season perfectly, raking it about $572 worldwide.
