'Jane the Virgin' Showrunner Talks Michael's Death
According to The Hollywood Reporter's interview with Urman, Michael's death was just a step forward to give "Jane the Virgin" a "larger arc". She reveals in her chat that it has always been the plan but they "kind of pushed and pulled" the plot because of Dier's performance and he and Rodriguez "are just so magical together".
"...we sort of kept it off as long as we could, but I feel like this is a telenovela. There are always going to be these big, dramatic, life-changing events in the show, and one of them was what launched the series," says Urman.
Adding on, Urman reveals that "Jane the Virgin" story is about Jane and how she matures in life which includes her dreams, her hopes, and her romance. She admits that Michael's death was just one of the big arcs they had to form for a while.
'Jane the Virgin' Will See Michael Again
On the other hand, though Michael is death, Urman announces that they are definitely bringing back Dier's character. The showrunner reveals that there are scenes the fans hadn't seen before.
However, here is the catch, for now, "Jane the Virgin" fans should endure the pain of not seeing Michael as he will not appear too soon. Urman explains that it should take time before he appears again for the to feel the loss as it "needs to settle and feel real".
"But you feel him throughout. I can't emphasize that enough," admits Urman. Before adding that in the time jump, viewers will feel the warmth of Jane and Michael.
Meanwhile, Urman also releases an official letter to "Jane the Virgin" fans in the official blog of The CW. Read the letter here.
