The upcoming LG G6 smartphone may have come in the form of a new smartphone with the model number LGE LG-H871 which recently appeared online.
Android Headlines reported on Monday that the LGE LG-H871 appeared on Geekbench, a benchmarking site.
"It could very well be the upcoming LG G6 or one of its many variants... rumored in recent times," it added.
Based on the information on Geekbench, under the hood of the LG-H871 is a Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) 2.19GHz quad-core 64-bit CPU and 4GB RAM that runs the Android 7.0 Nougat smartphone.
The information became available "days after reports (from) South Korea claimed that (LG) has dropped the idea of shipping its next-gen flagship with the Snapdragon 835 onboard," Android Headlines observed.
LG's South Korean rival, Samsung, reserved the initial Snapdragon 835 batches for its new Galaxy S8 smartphone making LG settle with the Snapdragon 821, it added.
"This particular device (LGE LG-H871)... may very well be a 'Lite' version of the LG G6," Android Headlines said.
LG Electronics is also rumored to patent and trademark names such as G6 Lite, G6 Hybrid, G6 Compact, G6 Prix, G6 Young, G6 Sense, G6 Forte and G6 Fit.
Meanwhile, GSMArena said that the LG G6 will have different amounts of RAM. There is the 6GB variant for North America and Europe, while all other regions can expect to see models with 4GB.
"LG has a lot of positive hype surrounding the G6," it noted, which is due to the company's release of teasers regarding slim bezels and waterproofing.
GSMArena added that it's looking forward to seeing great internal specs on the LG G6 once the information becomes officially available.
In a nutshell, it appears that the LG H871 might not be THE LG G6, but it could be just ONE of the possible iterations of the Korean tech company's upcoming flagship model. Either way, users can safely expect the succeeding flagship phone to perform as good as, if not better than its predecessors.
