‘Pokémon Sun And Moon’ Players Sets Record With Third Global Mission; Game’s Community Braces For Next Challenge
By"Pokémon Sun and Moon" players set all-time record time by completing the third Global Mission in just four days instead of the allotted two weeks. The game's community is now bracing for the next challenge of trading 1 million Pokémon through the Global Trade System (GTS) before Valentine's Day.
The third Global Mission is the first completed worldwide event by the game's community since it was launched in December 2016. Previously, the players were unable to complete the first round which started in early December. The same thing happened with the second round which ran from Dec. 27, 2016, to Jan 9, 2017.
This time, Pokémon players were up to the challenge of not having a "three-peat" failure. The community started using community portals to organize trade events in order to entice more people to participate in the event, Cinema Blend has learned. The combined effort of the players accounted for the completion of the third mission.
Now, every participating player will get to receive 2,000 Festival coins each. These can be used in the Festival Plaza where loads of mini-games are featured. Now with extra days to spare, the community is working on achieving bonus targets that will provide them with bonus rewards.
Gamers speculated that there is a combination of errors that could explain why the first two missions were failures despite record-setting sales of the game. The first has to do with the Global Link feature, which was used heavily in the previous events. There were connectivity and functionality issues that were encountered by players that stopped and discouraged them from actively participating, Game Rant has learned.
The second involve problems with registration with many Pokémon trainers unable to access their accounts connected with the Global Link feature. This difficulty stopped them from entering and updating information while participating in the missions. However, the third time proved to be a success with minimal used of the Global Link feature.
As of present, the next challenge for the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" players is to trade 2 million Pokémon using the GTS before 12 a.m. in Feb. 14. Once completed, players will get a Friend Ball, which is a special kind of Pokéball that can raise the happiness levels of any Pokémon that is caught with it.
In other news, there are now 6,000 accounts that have been banned from joining online activities after reports of hacking and cheating. The Pokémon Company vowed to investigate further and impose stricter restrictions to prevent hacking or altering the saved data.
