Images showing what is said to be screenshots of Microsoft's Windows 10 Cloud began circulating online a few hours ago.
Windows Bog Italia published screenshots that show images that is claimed to be that of Windows 10 Cloud.
The Sunday Express noted that the images, if it is indeed that of the tech giant's stripped-down version of their latest operating system, reveal that it is very similar to the regular full desktop version of Windows 10.
Microsoft is rumored to be in the midst of developing a software similar to Google's ChromeOS which runs on the Cloud. Windows 10 Cloud is believed to be aiming at the education and SME sectors as it can be run even on computers with low hardware capabilities.
There's no confirmed release date for Windows 10 Cloud, but The Sunday Express believes that it could be scheduled for an April debut due to "references buried within Windows 10 beta builds."
Meanwhile, ZDNet cited sources saying that Windows 10 Cloud is a simplifed version of Windows 10 that will be able to run only Unified Windows Platform (UWP) apps installed from the Windows Store
"Think of it as being similar to the version of Windows 10 formerly known as Windows RT or the Windows 8.1 with Bing SKU," it noted.
"Windows 10 Cloud is meant to... thwart Chromebooks with a simpler, safer, cheaper version of Windows 10... though Microsoft is unlikely to position it that way," ZDNet added.
It went on to note that Windows 10 Cloud is just a moniker, as the OS apparently will not be running via the Cloud.
ZDNet also confirmed that the Windows 10 Cloud is listed alongside other existing Windows 10 editions inside builds as far back as Windows 10 software development kit 15003; there are listings for both Cloud and CloudN inside recent Insider test builds. This means that there is evidence of the version's existence, although in development stages as of this time.
