Subaru, ahead of the next week's Chicago Auto Show, unveiled a refreshed Subaru Legacy 2018. The car feature styling changes including an additional infotainment featuring Android Auto and Apple's CarPlay.
Subaru Legacy 2018 changes
The implemented changes to the Subaru Legacy 2018 are touted to keep the all-wheel-drive sedan to remain competitive. The new sportier looking Legacy features wider lower grille openings that are complemented by a new front bumper, Motor Trend reported.
The Subaru Legacy 2018 now sports a redesigned C-shaped headlights and featuring the "Konoji" daytime LED running lights. Accordingly, the tailpipe of the vehicle also received a slight redesign. For a more engaging drive, Subaru made improvements to its electric power steering and the brake pedal feel.
It still carries the same 2.5-liter flat-four engine and the 3.6-liter flat-six engine; however, improvements to the CVT were made to the 2.5-liter engine, which greatly reduces powertrain noise. The center console of the Subaru Legacy 2018 is redesigned and now sport improved interior materials, as well as having a new sportier looking steering wheel. Additionally, its new Steering-Responsive Headlight (SRH) system will reportedly aim the headlights into a turn as the driver steers.
Subaru Legacy 2018 Siri and iOS in the cabin
Subaru Legacy 2018 features its latest Starlink infotainment system. It supports Google's Android Auto like in many recent vehicles. By default, the unit will come with a 6.5-inch Starlink display. Upgrades to an 8-inch model are available, which will also come with a faster CPU, according to Apple Insider.
Apple's CarPlay allows users to access iOS-like features through the car's in-dash system using a connected iPhone, will also be a standard for the Subaru Legacy 2018. For drivers who do not want to use CarPlay, Starlink will also support Bluetooth connections and native iPod controls.
No pricing is available as of yet for the base unit Subaru Legacy 2018, or its upgrade options. No mention if it will support wireless CarPlay, although understandably, the feature is still rare. The 2018 Legacy goes on sale beginning this summer.
