Notre Dame released their football team's schedules through 2016 and they include two notable games, one to be played in Boston's Fenway Park and one in San Antonio's Alamodome.

A classic American baseball park, Fenway, the home of the Boston Red Sox, will see its first football game since 1968. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face the Boston College Eagles on Nov. 21, 2015, ESPN reported.

"The City of Boston will be ready to welcome Fighting Irish and Eagles fans alike when Fenway brings this historic rivalry to one of our most beloved landmarks in 2015," mayor Thomas M. Menino said. "I'm looking forward to a memorable weekend that puts Boston, and all the great things our city has to offer, in the national spotlight."

Fenway now joins Chicago's Wrigley Field and New York's Yankee Stadium in hosting football games. Northwestern and Illinois played each other in Wrigley in 2010 and the park is scheduled to host five more matchups. Yankee Stadium has hosted the Pinstripe Bowl since 2010 and this year, Rutgers will play the Irish in the game.

The next three games of the Shamrock Series, a name given to the Irish's off-site home games each year, include playing Purdue at Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium in 2014, Fenway in '15 and facing Army in San Antonio's Alamodome in 2016.

Boston College used to regularly play its home games at Fenway from 1914 to 1956, as did the NFL's Boston Patriots. The Patriots played their final home game at Fenway on Dec. 1, 1968.

A year after playing for the National Championship and losing to Alabama, Notre Dame will cap off an 8-4 season with a trip to the Bronx and a Pinstripe Bowl matchup against Rutgers.

It is unclear if Fenway Park will continue hosting football games after the 2015 Notre Dame and Boston College matchup.
