Syfy's "12 Monkeys" has been on hiatus for a while, although filming began in Toronto in October 2016. Right after the debut of the new trailer at New York Comic Con, buzz has been swirling that will surely make any fan excited for "12 Monkeys" Season 3.

"12 Monkeys" Season 3: new cast members for latest season

Per Den of Geek, the "12 Monkeys" Season 3 continues to keep getting better. It was recently reported that Hannah Waddingham ("Game of Thrones") and Faran Tahir ("Star Trek" and "Iron Man") will be joining the cast in recurring roles.

The two will both be antagonists. Waddingham will play Magdalena, an apocalyptic cult member charged with protecting the Witness, while Tahir will play the role a resident of Titan who is also a devout enforcer of the Army of the 12 Monkeys.

The season 2 finale assured about the show's first leap into the future. If the latest trailer out of New York Comic Con is any indication, the setting in which the city of Titan finds itself is not only a grim post-apocalyptic vision but a complete wasteland.

"12 Monkeys" Season 3: wait, the gang goes to the 80s?

Last we saw, Cassie was whisked away by the Army of the 12 Monkeys to the far-off future. Expect a reunion in "12 Monkeys Season 3". Here's more news to look forward to: the gang will be going to the 80s. Per Entertainment Weekly, "12 Monkeys" will take a mid-season jump to the 1980s - their first comedy stint.

So what should fans look forward to? A heist, heade by Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire). Nonetheless, going back that far into the past means the foursome will run into some familiar faces, including late enemy and Jennifer's dad, Leland Goines (Željko Ivanek).

"12 Monkeys" Season 3 is expected to premiere in Spring.
