"Deadpool 2" might have met an unexpected problem when director Tim Miller opted to drop out of production. Now here's the latest on the "Deadpool" sequel from the movie's new director, David Leitch.
"Deadpool 2": new director vows to keep flow
According to The Independent, insiders claim that Miller left because of clashing visions between him and lead star Ryan Reynolds, particularly because Miller wants to deliver a flashy, mega-budget superhero film versus Reynolds' (supported by writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) desire to keep things scrappy, raunchy, and inexpensive.
Miller himself, has however debunked those claims. Although it's difficult to really know what prompted Miller's departure, but what seems apparent is the new director for "Deadpool 2" is keen on keeping the first film's DNA intact - citing the disrespectful but fun nature to "the merc", which he fell in love it.
Leitch added that it would be fun to spin out the world a little bit and expand it. That is needed in a sequel but he wants to stay true to who "Deadpool" is and what the movie stands for - fun and irreverent. Leitch said that "Deadpool" is always about playing against the assumptions of superhero movies and he thinks that's one main reason the movie became so successful.
"Deadpool 2": X-men cameo?
Per CinemaBlend, as the "X-Men: franchise has been moving in several different directions at once, it is still holding on to films that started it all. Now, many are asking where everything falls in the multiple timelines. The "Deadpool" writers have found a solution. They suggested that the best thing to do is to ignore it and make jokes.
In the first "Deadpool" movie, one reference was made to the timelines of the "X-Men" movies and making a joke is exactly what happened. Colossus told Deadpool that he will be brought to the Professor and Deadpool asked, McAvoy or Stewart? Writer Wernick said this breaking of the fourth wall won't stop with "Deadpool 2".
Now many fans are wondering about "Deadpool" and his part in the future of the Fox X-Men universe. However, Wernick and Reese seem to hint that future movies that include "Deadpool", will remain "Deadpool" movies and it looks like we won't be seeing the merc with a mouth in much of the rest of the universe.
"Deadpool 2" is set to release on Mar. 2, 2018. Did you like the first "Deadpool" movie? What else are you looking forward to in "Deadpool 2"
