Fans of the 1983 movie "Scarface" might be happy (or not?) about the upcoming remake of their favorite gangster classic. Here's what you need to know about the upcoming "Scarface" remake.

"Scarface" remake: no director as of now

According to Entertainment Weekly, the "Scarface" remake currently doesn't have a director, as Antoine Fuqua has parted ways with Universal. Fuqua cited being busy with the sequel to Denzel Washington's "The Equalizer" as his reason for not being able to commit to the "Scarface" reboot.

Now, Universal is looking for a possible new helmer for what would be the third big-screen adaptationof "Scarface". Following in the footsteps of Howard Hawks and Richard Rosson’s 1932 drama about an Al Capone-ish mobster and Brian De Palma’s 1983 update, with Al Pacino as a Cuban refugee turned Miami drug kingpin, the latest "Scarface" will focus on a Mexican immigrant in modern Los Angeles.

In addition NME said that Diego Luna will play the lead role in the upcoming "Scarface" remake. Remember that rumor which said that Leonardo DiCaprio will play the "Scarface" remake lead character? Well, it seems that's all it is, a rumor.

Luna, who played Cassian Andor in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is set to take on the role of Montana. Luna was born in Mexico and became well-knownfor his role in Alfonso Cuaron's "Y Tu Mamá Tambien" in 2001.

Meanwhile, Universal's "Scarface" remake will reportedly not be set in Miami, but in Los Angeles. Also, there's buzz that Sofia Vergara will be included in the production as well, playing Montana's younger sister, Gina, who was played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (via Miami Herald)
