'Beauty and the Beast' Trailer Envokes Nostalgia; Emma Watson Charms As Belle In Longest Clip Yet
ByMany have been eagerly awaiting Disney's live-action "Beauty and the Beast" movie. Now, a longer trailer has come out, making many feel nostalgic. Here's what else fans can expect from the upcoming Emma Watson-starrer.
"Beauty and the Beast" live-action trailers
Per Vox, the first trailer was to assure fans that the new adaptation will not ruin the well-loved animated 1991 classic. Looking at the film directed by Bill Condon ("Dreamgirls") and headlined by Emma Watson, it was a carefully edited shot-for-shot remake of the original trailer. It was clearly hoping to prove to worried fans that their beloved treasure was in good hands.
"Beauty and the Beast" new soundtrack
Fans also get to hear the "Beauty and the Beast" duet, which is now sung by Ariana Grande and John Legend. The song plays over the ballroom scene, while fans also see a glimpse of colorful snippets from two other favorite numbers from the original, "Be Our Guest" and "Gaston".
In addition, there's a lot of evidence that the live-action film will be meticulously faithful to the animated original - if not a full-on shot-for-shot remake. Fans have clearly accepted the look, with proof of the first trailer breaking viewing number records on YouTube.
"Beauty and the Beast" chemistry between lead stars
Although one factor that many are curious about is if the chemistry between Watson and co-star Dan Stevens ("Downton Abbey") as the Beast will be enough to revive the romance of the original. Also, Disney seems dead on with not giving too much away: beyond a few shared smiles here and there, neither of the two trailers give any substantial spoilers between the lead couple (via Second Today).
Taking the trailers into consideration the film is promising but many fans have very high expectations. We will know when "Beauty and the Beast" comes to theaters on Mar. 17, 2017.
