The original "Injustice: Gods Among Us" did its own superhero landing into the fold and took the gaming world by storm. The idea of the best DC superheroes and villains battling out "Mortal Kombat" style greatly appealed to casual and hardcore DC fans alike, and became one of the gaming world's most popular fighting series. Fans are eagerly anticipating the sequel to continue their superhero beat down especially after the online beta revealed new story elements.

In the original "Injustice," the story revolved around the fall of Superman into a villainous, vengeful mega-villain, bent on shaping the world to his iron-fisted liking. Batman takes it upon himself, with the help of other notable superheroes, to stop the newly tyrannical man of steel, and the story progresses from there. The most recent trailer depicts that the story will branch out even further from the classic matchup of Batman versus Superman, but besides what was shown in the trailer, the plot details remain uncertain.

As reported by WWG, the online beta is now available with a closed release, meaning only a lucky few will be able to redeem their beta codes to play an early version of the game before release. For those that were fortunate enough to receive a code, the in-game dialogue during combat may have just revealed more details about the game's overall story.

"Injustice 2" will feature a strong roster of DC characters, and in the beta, Superman, Supergirl, Atrocious, and Batman are made available to play. As for the possible plot details that were revealed, a spoiler warning is hereby issued. According to iDigital Times, Supergirl is shaping up to be the sequel's main focus this time around. The dialogue versus Batman suggests that Supergirl is on the side of Superman, whilst the dialogue versus Superman suggests that she is not on his side neither.

Rumors have suggested that somewhere along the story, Supergirl starts as Superman's soldier-at-arms but then realizes the tyranny to which Superman has been ruling this entire time. These are currently speculations and fans will have to wait and see once "Injustice 2" hits store shelves sometime this year.

"Injustice 2" is set to release for the PS4, Xbox One and mobile versions for Android and iOS.
