"Pokemon Duel" is a new official Pokemon game that was recently released for iOs and Android. Get to know more about the free-to-play strategy board game.

"Pokemon Duel": what is the game about
According to BGR "Pokemon Duel" characters are simply small Amiibo-like figures, unlike in "Pokemon Go" where they are perceived to be actual creatures. Here, the player assembles the figures like a deck and then proceeds to compete against other players in a strategy-heavy board game. Each team is comprised of six Pokemon and an integrated AI will try to give you the best chance at winning by choosing the right moves.

"Pokemon Duel": any connections to "Pokemon Go"?

Many "Pokemon Go" players have been waiting for an update that would allow them to battle other trainers, but unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet. Although that is the premise of the new game, which could make fans wonder why it was launched as another title and not integrated into "Pokemon Go" instead. It looks like "Pokemon Go" diehards would just have to wait for battles to finally come to the game.

Meanwhile, GameSpot said that it is possible to play "Pokemon Duel" without spending real money, unlike "Pokemon Go" where you sometimes can't wait to get upgrades. In the new game, you can pay to immediately unlock loot boxes, if you want. If not, you can just wait for a specific number of hours.

"Pokemon Duel": tips and tricks

Here are some useful tips and tricks for "Pokemon Duel" (via TechRadar):

1. Regularly check daily missions and messages

"Pokemon Duel" has various free content to make a player come back several times a day. The features include rewards in your Messages and tasks to complete in the form of Daily Missions. To find your messages, tap the Menu button in the corner of the Leagues screen. With Daily Missions, these don't reward coins automatically. Open Daily Missions and tap on each active mission to collect your reward.

2. Transfer between more than one phone

A player's account comes with a packet of data saved to the cloud. So if you break or lose your phone, you won’t destroy your game record. If you do decide to move to a new device, simply download the app from Google Play or the App Store, then select the Data Transfer option after the opening screen.

3. Study your attack tiles first

Attacks in "Pokemon Duel" are separated into four different tiles, based on how powerful they are and how much damage they cause when activated. The types are defined by color and it would be a good idea to brush up on these before taking your chance online.

4. Overwhelm your enemy to guarantee success

Like in any competitive board game, earning a win in "Pokemon Duel" is about taking control of the board and using your turns to successfully move around the board. Since some Pokemon are stronger than others, you would want to have as many creatures in your opponent’s vicinity.

5. Knocked out Pokémon can be repositioned

In a regular Pokemon game, having one of them defeated in battle and knocked out usually means it would need time to recover until the battle is over. Not in "Pokemon Duel", where any Pokemon defeated on your team will be automatically moved to a virtual center for healing.
