Despite having a no-trade clause in his contract, New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony has been linked in NBA trade rumors with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics. It is no surprise the New York Knicks are seeking for changes to their underperforming roster as they were expected to go deep into the playoffs after acquiring Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah to pair with Kristaps Porzingis and Anthony during the offseason.

According to ESPN, the New York Knicks have let the Los Angeles Clippers know that they are willing to part with their star forward without getting any of the members of their big 3 namely Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. The Clippers would certainly consider this offer considering their star point guard is currently out for another month which means they will continue to be a part of any trade talk involving Carmelo Anthony.

The New York Knicks would not be able to get Blake Griffin in any deal involving Carmelo Anthony any trade gossip involving him going to the Knicks will die. It is because of a rule in the collective bargaining agreement that says teams are not allowed to have two players who have designated rookie max extensions and the Knicks already have one in Derrick Rose.

According to Yahoo Sports, the New York Knicks are determined to move Anthony's huge contract before the Feb. 23 trade deadline. Carmelo Anthony has $54 million remaining on his current deal and he is a salary of a whopping $24.6 million this season.

Recent NBA trade rumors suggest the Boston Celtics have already told the New York Knicks that they refused to be a part of any trade involving Carmelo Anthony as they are already happy with their current team. Meanwhile, the defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers rejected the Knicks' offer of a direct swap of Carmelo Anthony for Kevin Love after Love was instrumental in their championship win last season.
