The latest version of the Tesla S Model achieves a high mileage of 335 miles in a single battery charge. This leaves competitors in the electric cars market behind by a huge distance with GM's Chevrolet Bolt only going as far as 238 miles.

Tesla Motors Corp. CEO Elon Musk delivers on his promise of never stopping in innovating with the latest version the Tesla S Model 100 D. Previous models' highest mileage was only at 315 miles in one battery charge.

The Tesla S Model high mileage now adds 20 more miles when its competitors have never even achieved the 300 miles mark. Musk is pushing for an aggressive pace in releasing hardware and software upgrades, which now come every six to eight months.

The only downside to the performance boost and better mileage is that it comes with additional costs. The Tesla S Model with a high mileage is priced starting at $93,700 while the Chevrolet Bolt only starts at $36,120.

There is also the problem with retrofits since Tesla does not follow the usual annual hardware upgrades of the regular car industry according to Investopedia. Nonetheless, Musk is still determined to push for major revisions that are scheduled every 12 to 18 months.

Though the Tesla S Model high mileage comes at a steep price, the brand and model remain to be a popular and in-demand electric car. In 2016, the Tesla S Model is the world's best-selling plug-in car with an estimated 50, 931 units sold according to Hybrid Cars. However, the figure is not substantiated pending confirmation from Tesla.

The Tesla S Model in 2016 despite being considered as a semi-luxury car was able to beat cheaper and more affordable cars like those from Nissan and Mitsubishi. It may have something to do with the Tesla brand, which is perceived by consumers to be synonymous with excellence and performance making it in-demand despite the high cost.

Moreover, three of the largest manufacturers in Europe have committed to making electric cars a huge part of their inventory. By 2025, these manufacturers hope to apportion 15 to 25 percent of their total volume in making plug-in cars similar to the Tesla S Model.

As of present, the Tesla S Model high mileage is still an industry leader. With Musk commitment to new innovations, the plug-in car will see more boosts and upgrades in the coming months.
