The OnePlus brand impressively rose to global recognition in just three years' time. The OnePlus 3, its first flagship device delivered great specs at competitive prices, which gave the brand the moniker of a "flagship killer."

If OnePlus wants to maintain its growing user base and appealing brand name, it will have to offer the best features and technology in OnePlus 5. Incidentally, OnePlus is jumping from OnePlus 3 to OnePlus 5 since 4 is an unlucky number for the Chinese.

OnePlus 5 Specs and Features

The OnePlus 5 is set to have the Quad-HD AMOLED display like the Samsung Galaxy S7. The OnePlus 3 display was not exceptional but with the addition of the OnePlus 3 VR launch, it is likely that the newest iteration will also support the best VR experience.

The OnePlus 5 to be a "flagship killer" needs to have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor that is now the standard in new high-end devices. It is now at par with the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and HTC 11 in terms of processing with the 10nm process, which is high in efficiency without draining the battery according to PC Advisor.

The OnePlus 5 will reportedly feature 21 to 23MP rear camera and a 3500 to 4000mAh battery with Dash Charge feature. With the OnePlus 3 as one of the first phones to have 6GB of RAM, OnePlus may push for an 8GB in its latest flagship.

Moreover, the ceramic body versus metal is q better conductor of 5G signals.

OnePlus 5 Release and Price

The OnePlus 5 will more likely have the second quarter of 2017 debut after the unveiling of most flagships in MWC this March, Know Your Mobile reported. OnePlus may also time the launching just after the rumored April event of the Samsung Galaxy S8.

It will then put the devices on sale by June or July with a launching price of $480 and could get higher soon after. OnePlus has provided phones with excellent specs with prices much lower than many flagship devices, which is why OnePlus 5 is poised to be another "flagship killer."
