Samsung has been using Tizen as its operating system for its wearable products and have been used in the company's Z series of phones, and has not been featured in any Samsung phone since. Latest reports say Samsung is coming out with another phone, and Tizen 3.0 is touted to be the OS of choice.

Tizen is Samsung's self-built open source flexible operating system developed by a community of developers and comes with multiple profiles to serve industry requirements. The OS may be featured in future Samsung phones ultimately replacing Android in its future offerings.

According to Digital Trends, producing a handset using Tizen 3.0 for the operating system indicates Samsung would want to free itself from Google's grasp. If speculations are true, this would be the company's first Tizen-powered phone running Tizen 3.0

The Samsung phone with model number SM-Z250F, also known by the name "Pride," will be initially launched in India and eventually to other developing countries, GSM Arena reported. Though specs for the phone are still not known, some reports suggest that the smartphone will feature Bixby, Samsung's new virtual assistant that should be introduced in the flagship Samsung Galaxy S8.

Unconfirmed reports say that Samsung plans to utilize the same markets where they sell the Samsung Z2 to launch the Tizen 3.0 powered phone. It is also reported that Samsung apparently wants to Market Pride's voice control functionality instead of the phone's hardware. However, reports say that the Tizen 3.0 phones might not make it to mainland U.S. since the phone is aimed only at emerging markets.

Tizen 3.0 is touted, as a major upgrade, which offers other improvements for IoT devices such as smart appliances, wearable's, in-car entertainment systems, drones, TVs, and virtual reality (VR) headsets. Tizen 3.0 is said to be a 64-bit capable operating system, similar to iOS and Android. Accordingly, the OS should work on devices equipped with the latest 64-bit ARM and x86 processors.

Furthermore, Tizen 3.0 beta may be available in July, according to PC World, and a planned release for the final version might come in September. Additionally, devices featuring the OS will soon follow, though Samsung could not provide for a specific date.
