Director Neill Blomkamp expressed his dismayed over another delay of his film "Alien 5." He took to twitter this week his response to fans asking what were the film's chances of reaching theaters soon. Bloomkamp sadly confirmed the slim chance of the film's release this year.

According to reports, Blomkamp feels that it may never even get off the ground. It can be recalled that "Alien 5" was announced in early 2015 but the movie has been on hold for more than a year now, Game Spot reported. Blomkamp has even released several pieces of concept art from the movie last year but it seems like the movie is up for shelving again.

Fox's decision to put Blomkamp's film on hold stemmed from another alien movie that will be coming out on theaters on May 19. Ridley Scott's "Alien: Covenant" is a sequel of the movie "Prometheus."

Sources added that with Scott promising that more alien movies in the franchise are looming, the chances for Blomkamp's "Alien 5" movie release has gotten even slimmer as Bloomkamp, himself has already started working on another film. As films are put on hold all the time and are cherry picked for production, movie writers noted that "Alien 5" may actually see daylight, Alien5 Movie reported.

In 2015, Blomkamp mentioned that the film's production is going very well and that suggests Fox not actually booting out the film. Writers also noted that Fox has shut down an Alien fan film because its plot conflicted with Blomkamp's "Alien 5" script, and above all even James Cameron loved the film's script.

It is worth noting that Sigourney Weaver and Michael Beihn are also hopeful that the film will eventually take off. Both have reprised their roles from 1986's "Aliens." Weaver pointed out that she would be surprised if the film will not be released as it has a good script and they are working very hard on it. She assured fans that "Alien 5" movie is worth the wait.
