Sony Xperia X Gets Security Updates; Android 7.1.1 Concept Build For Smartphone On The Way, Impressive Features Added
BySony is in for updates this week as it recently run software version 34.2.A.0.292 to handsets Xperia X and Xperia X Compact. The update brings security patches but it is not known yet what else it contains.
Phones like Xperia XZ and X Performance are also eligible with the update, Phone Arena reported. It can be recalled that last month, Sony has rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat firmware update for Xperia X, Xperia X Dual, and Xperia X Compact handsets.
The update brings new features like heightened performance and security improvements. It also gives a more refined notifications shade, direct reply feature, a redesigned Settings app and quick toggles.
Reports added that Sony boasts the solid improvements on the inside too being rolled in with the update like the new Vulkan UI that makes games look greater than ever. A new Doze mode for battery life was also updated making it more intelligent on the move, saving charge whenever the smartphone is tucked away in the pocket or bag, The Android Soul reported.
Other features include three power saving levels to choose from in the Stamina mode that automatically adjust settings whenever the user is on the move. It also features multi-window support, which means user could run two apps simultaneously in a new split-screen view.
Since Xperia X remains on Android 7.0 for the time being, Sony already has an Android 7.1.1 concept build out for the smartphone, GS Marena has learned. This would now make Sony the first mobile device maker except Google to have rolled out the absolute latest version of the OS.
Sony phone users will certainly take pride with the new features available in the upcoming update to 7.1.1 since it includes a new Restart option in the power off menu, support for PlayStation 4 remote play, and faster camera startup time. The update is only available to those that have chosen the Experimental update track.
Phone owners who are not part of the Concept testing are still left in the dark when they will get the latest update.
