Six actors are said to be vying for the lead role of DC's superhero movie "Green Lantern Corps." Actors among the impressive shortlist are Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Armie Hammer, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ryan Reynolds. All these actors vie for the most coveted role as Hal Jordan.

It is worth noting that Hal Jordan is the most well-known Green Lantern who was the first human ever inducted into the Green Lantern Corps. He has been heralded as possibly the greatest Green Lantern of all time.

Albeit "Green Lantern Corps" release schedule still on 2020, Warner Bros. is starting to ramp up work on the film, Comic Book reported. According to reports no casting decisions have yet been made but rumors circulating that Reynolds being a surprising addition to the list would assure a built-in audience.

Reynolds has made his superhero stock soar when he starred in "Deadpool." Although many believe Reynolds would be the best choice as he once played Jordan in 2011, DC is still considering other options, The Wrap has learned. As of press time, the role for Hal Jordan is still open for the other five actors as there is no confirmation yet from Warner Bros.

Sources added Tom Cruise is also interested to play Jordan and he might end up with the role as his experience in the "Mission Impossible" series has proven that he has the action chops. It is worth noting that Cruise's interest stemmed from his never actually played a superhero before.

Other actor who is viewed as potential Jordan is Cooper. Reports claimed that he auditioned for the role in the previous film but DC fans noted that he is currently on the Marvel side of things as the voice of Rocket Racoon in the "Guardians of the Galaxy." Gylenhaal, on the other hand, is a big fan of the genre and is very vocal in defending superhero movies.

It can be recalled that the first film has experienced failure as it focus on comedy and quips and failed to focus on the iconic character of Jordan.
