There is still no official word on Mack Brown's future, but the Longhorns' coach did confirm he will be meeting with the University of Texas' (UT) athletic director and president.

Speaking at an Alamo Bowl introductory press conference, ESPN reported, Brown said the meeting with AD Steve Patterson and president Bill Powers will be to discuss his future with the team. He was also sure to stop any questions regarding the rumors of his impending resignation.

"There's been a little speculation about my job situation," Brown said Thursday from San Antonio. "We're not here to talk about me. My situation has not changed. I have the best president in the country in Bill Powers. He's done a tremendous job. We've lost an iconic athletic director in DeLoss Dodds. He's been my boss for 16 years."

According to ESPN, there will be a Texas Board of Regents meeting Thursday where Powers could even be fired.

"We hired what I think is a great athletic director in Steve Patterson. Any time the athletic director changes, it changes the game. I will sit down and talk to him and Bill and discuss the direction we're going," Brown said. "I'm looking forward to my meeting with Bill and Steve and then move forward."

An anonymous source previously told Orangebloods.com Brown was planning to tell his team privately before publicly announcing his resignation. Brown has refuted this report and said he was recruiting in Florida earlier this week, a sign his job may be secure.

Still, ESPN cited sources that have said UT has a short wish list of potential head coaches that include Alabama's Nick Saban and the San Francisco 49ers' Jim Harbaugh. No offers have been made and Harbaugh declined to comment Wednesday on the report.

Brown was in the hot seat early on when the Longhorns started the season 1-2, including losses to BYU and Ole Miss. The team then won their next six games and seven of their last nine, including wins against Texas Tech and Oklahoma. However, two of those losse came in the last three games and included an unofficial Big 12 Championship loss to Baylor.

Despite the rocky start and finish to their season, Brown and the Longhorns will be playing Oregon on Dec. 30 for the Valero Alamo Bowl.
