Sci-Fi franchises are where the money is at in Hollywood as of the moment. Come Feb. 9, 2018, Director Shane Black will bring to the screen a brand new sequel to the 1987 original "Predator." Almost every studio in Hollywood has blockbuster movies based on sequels or remakes of classic sci-fi franchises. 20th Century Fox is in the process of rebuilding its successful "Alien" universe. Additionally, the saga of "The Predator" is in the works and compiled below are details gathered from various sources as what to expect in the coming "The Predator" sequel.

"The Predator" director

Shane Black will direct the coming "The Predator" sequel and he will also be the co-writer for the screenplay. Writing the script with him is Fred Dekker, better known for his work in "Robocop." Black's recent work involves directing "Iron Man 3". Black also appeared in the original 1987 movie as Hawkins.

"The Predator" will be the biggest Predator yet

That is in terms of budget, not the alien. Anything involving the production of "The Predator" would need a big budget and Black got just that. He spoke plainly about what he asked for from Fox in pre-production. There are speculations that a particular casting decision could certainly be helped by having an insane amount of money.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks to head the cast of "The Predator"

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boyd Holbrook is leading what can be described as an ensemble cast. Those officially on the roster include Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key, and Olivia Munn. A latest addition includes Emmy Award winner Sterling K. Brown from "This Is Us" and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

Black in an interview said the studio is "in talks" with Arnold but offered no details. The hope is that it will inspire enough nostalgia to build early hype.

"The Predator" will not be a reboot and set in the present day

According to Collider, Black made it clear that his "Predator" Film is a sequel and not a reboot." He reasons that there is no reason to start over when "The Predator" has a rich mythology just waiting to be mined.

Moreover, setting "The Predator" movie into the present timeline would also make Schwarzenegger's entry more interesting given the actor's history with the franchise that spans 30-plus years after the events of the first movie.

"The Predator" is scheduled for release on Mar. 2, 2018.
