The animated web Television series "Voltron: Legendary Defender" will make a second comeback on Netflix. And now, a rebooted version of the series is about to land on Netflix on Friday.

Based on 1984 Japanese cartoon series, "Voltron: Legendary Defender" is a sci-fi adventure anime following a group of Paladins who harness the power of five robot lions to form into a giant robot called Voltron. Produced by DreamWorks Animation, the new Voltron is a reboot of both the Voltron series franchise and the Beast King GoLion anime series.

In a recent interview with gaming website Polygon, Voltron executive producers Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery said that the Voltron series that exists today could not have without Netflix's strong backing. Voltron made its debut on Netflix in June 2016. A planned second season will be coming on Jan. 20, 2017.

Rebooted Voltron: Legendary Defender To Focus More On Human Characters

According to IGN, "Voltron: Legendary Defender" will make its second comeback on Jan. 20, with the intense action-packed second season. But unlike the original Voltron series, the rebooted Voltron would be an entirely western-led production, developed by Dreamworks Animation, thus boasting a creative team packed with animation talents from Avatar.

According to Empire Online, the "Voltron: Legendary Defender" follows five space pilots namely: Shiro, Keith, Hunk, Pidge, and Lance. The voice's casts include the likes of Josh Keaton (Shiro), Kimberly Brooks (Princess Allura), Rhys Darby (Coran), Tyler Labine( Hunk), Jeremy Shada (Lance), Bex Taylor-Klaus(Pidge), and Steven Yeun (Keith).

The rebooted "Voltron: Legendary Defender" will focus more on five teenagers who get caught up in the war against the evil force of Emperor Zarkon in the Galran War.

The five teenagers have been transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war. Then, they meet Princess Allura and become Paladins (heroes) and reunite the five Lions to form the massive robot Voltron.

The second season of "Voltron: Legendary Defender" will hit Netflix on Jan. 20, 2017.
