According to Pocket-lint, the LG G6 will launch ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S8. The G6 is said to be making an appearance at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of Feb., while Samsung is reported to be hosting an event for the S8 around mid April (somewhere between the 15 and the 18th)

As for design, the leaks say that the Galaxy S8 will feature an all-screen front with slim bezels and no physical home button. On the other hand, the G6 is said to be doing away with the modular design, as seen in the previous G5. It has mentioned that the new flagship will feature waterproofing, something which Samsung's S8 is also anticipated to offer. The G6 is also said to be coming out with a big screen and small body, suggesting both these flagships will be all focusing on screens. The S8 is said to be removing the headphone jack, although the the G6 is thought to retain it.

In terms of display and camera, the Galaxy S8 is reportedly coming with a 5.7-inch display, although resolution is still uncertain. While the LG G6 is confirmed to be coming with a 5.7-inch LCD display with a 880 x 1440 Quad HD+ resolution for a pixel density of 564ppi.

LG vs Samsung: why the G6 won't explode like the Galaxy Note 7

Now, LG said that the G6 will not explode, unlike the competitor's Note 7. Per BGR, LG will make use of "heat pipes", made out of copper. This is to be able to disperse internal heat and reduce the risk of battery overheating. Also, the G6 will have a unique design to keep its parts that heat up the most at a distance, allowing the heat to not concentrate in a particular area.
