Japanese company Sony has begun rolling out Nougat 7.0 update to its Xperia Z5 devices. The update brings split-screen multitasking and an improved battery life.

Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium phone owners are advised to download the update with version number 32.3.A.0.372 over Wi-Fi or through Xperia Companion on the computer since it weighs 1.3GB, GS Marena reported. The update brings additional changes to the smartphones which include Google Now integration on the homescreen, and app suggestions based on the usage and habit of the phone user. Other features include a new self-timer button to the front camera interface where users can hold the smartphone more securely when reaching for the perfect angle.

Sony also updated the battery optimization settings on Xperia Z5 devices. According to Sony Mobile's official website, doze is now more intelligent and saving charge whenever the smartphone is tucked away in the pocket or bag. Three new power saving levels were also added in the Stamina mode, it claimed to automatically adjust the phone's settings whenever the user is on the move.

The Android Nougat update is being pushed via OTA update for select Xperia Z5 devices. It is region-specific so phone users are advised to check their phones from time to time for update notifications, Gadgets 360 reported.

Sony warned users that if their Xperia Z5 is a carrier-bound device, it may suffer more delays as the update will have to go through the approval process from the respective carrier. Sony added that users cannot downgrade their device to a lower Android version.

Phone users who have devices eligible for the update are encouraged to visit Sony's official site to check whether their device is ready for update. The Nougat 7.0 update is available to Xperia XZ, XA Ultra, XA,X Performance, X, Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, Z4 Tablet, and Z3+ devices.

It is worth noting that Sony's Xperia line of Android phones has always earned loyal followers and it has enjoyed greater success in Europe, where it is available across many carriers.
