Reports say Walmart lowering the price of the Microsoft Lumia 435 to just $28.75 is for Microsoft to make way for its expected announcement of the Surface Phone. Microsoft Lumia 435 was released two years ago and it has a 4-inch touch screen with a 1.2 GHz Dual-Core Cortex A7 SoC.

According to Phone Arena, the Microsoft Lumia 435 initially had a selling price of $80 which means buyers can save $18.98 when they buy it at its current price. This is an entry-level smartphone though which means it has basic features such as a 2 MP rear camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB expandable memory and powered by a 1560 mAh battery.

The Microsoft Surface Phone is a huge leap over the Microsoft Lumia 435 as it is expected to have a 20 MP back camera and an 8 MP front camera. Other features include a 5.7-inch touchscreen display with 2K resolution running on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. It is also set to have 128 GB of internal storage, 6GB of RAM and packed with a 3000 mAh battery. The best part is it will come with provisions for Microsoft apps such as Office 365, Skype and Exchange Server.

According to The Verge, Microsoft is also attempting to turn the Surface Phone into a foldable tablet which would make people completely forget about the Microsoft Lumia 435. There has been no announcement as to when the Microsoft Surface Phone will be released but most are expecting it to be at the Mobile World Congress 2017.
