Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Has Its Fair Share of Joys and Cons; Weird Design Sometimes Frustrating
ByNintendo Switch's super-small snap-on controllers are portable and are trying to be whatever gamers want it to be. However, the Joy-Con's weird design brings a few disadvantages, according to reviews.
According to critics, some game modes make Nintendo Switch Joy-Con incredibly great, but it has a set of problems in most of the games, CNET reported. The weird controllers can get quite frustrating and sometimes work as complicated as an Apple TV remote.
An Evolution to Nintendo's Portable Products
Nintendo Switch is the latest product in the company's portable line ups and is an evolution to the old DS and 3DS lines, ARS Technica reported. It is the next generation portable device and it's obvious with its physical design of 6.2-inch display with 720p resolution. One fine example is when playing "Mario Kart 8" on Nintendo Switch, which is so much better than playing it on the Wii U. "Splatoon 2" is another game that provides a wonderful Switch experience, except for its tilting system, which sometimes gets frustrating, according to reviews.
Disadvantages in Playing Switch
Hand-eye coordination can get difficult at times with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con as it has a lot of buttons to it. Competitive playing and long term playing with this controller can be annoying, according to reviews. Though they look more advanced, Joy-Con controllers are not as convenient as the simple Wii remote of 2006.
If players activate the motion controls of the Joy-Con, they would get the feel of playing with a Wii remote. The Joy-Con used on a tablet feels like players are using 3DS or Wii U.
There are some games that force people to use Switch in modes like tabletop for one game or dual handed stand controllers facing the TV. This could mean that some games are better played at home, while others are better on-the-go. Nintendo Switch's versatility should push other games to come up with controls applicable for all the various modes of playing.
