An official statement from the "Star Wars" website finally clears speculations of a CG Princess Leia. Lucasfilm officially announced that the ninth episode of the epic space opera won't be seeing a CG Princess Leia.

Lucasfilm Won't Digitally Recreate Fisher

After the untimely death of Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in "Star Wars," fans feared that they will be seeing a CG Princess Leia in other installments in the Star Wars franchise, just like what they did in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." A recent conversation between the key people from Lucasfilm, Disney, and "Star Wars Episode 9" director Colin Trevorrow was held last January 10 to discuss the possibility of a CG Princess Leia, Movieweb reported. They recently released a statement regarding that meeting and they cleared speculations of a CG Princess Leia reassuring fans that Lucasfilm will not digitally recreate the late actress' performance as General Leia Organa.

The statement continues to say how important Carrie Fisher is to the Lucasfilm family. They said that the actress will always be their princess, general, and their friend, The Verge reported. The statement also said that they are still lamenting her loss. They said that they will cherish the legacy and memory of the actress and would do anything to honor her contribution to the "Star Wars" universe.

Massive "Star Wars" Story Rewrite

The meeting that took place in January 10 also tackled issues on massive rewrites to how "Star Wars Episode 9" will progress from now. This rewriting would also definitely and substantially affect the story of "Star Wars Episode 8," where Princess Leia is rumored to play a bigger role that will expand in the next instalment.

There are two important scenes in episode 8 and 9 that features Princess Leia. First is her reunion with Luke Skywalker, and the other is her confrontation with son, Kylo Ren. With the rewrites for episode 9, a lot of her scenes in episode 8 will be removed.
