Anime Series Invade U.S.; Amazon Launches Anime Strike Streaming Service; 7-Day Trial Given
ByJapanese anime have become so popular that it is now proudly invading U.S. According to reports, Amazon U.S. has just recently launched its streaming service this week dubbed as Anime Strike. It is the first branded on-demand subscription service.
Watching anime series in the U.S. will cost a fan to pay $4.99 a month with the newly unveiled Anime Strike streaming service. Its subscription will grant access to more than 1,000 anime titles, The Verge reported. However, contents will not be offered to younger viewers and non-anime series that Crunchyroll includes.
The source added that the Anime Strike's library includes series like "Scum Wish" and "Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga," which will be broadcast the same day they air in Japan. Classic films like "Akira and Paprika" will also be viewed as well as exclusives content of "Onihei" and "The Great Passage."
The paid service is offering more than 1,000 television anime episodes and films to Amazon Prime members in the United States. The offer also gives a 7-day free trial before a member start paying. It is worth noting that Amazon plans to update the channel every week as the Anime Strike's streaming anime are ad-free, Anime News Network divulged.
There will be no language barrier when it comes to viewing these Japanese anime series since some of the anime are streaming with English subtitles, and some are available with an English dub. Sources added that this service is Amazon's newest in its line of about 100 Amazon Channels.
Amazon believed that with anime in particular, there is a strong, passionate audience that is underserved by traditional pay TV and with the Anime Strike streaming service it will now pave the way of giving the kind of entertainment that anime fans in the U.S have long been craving for. The company is set to launch more branded on-demand subscription services in the coming months.
