After graduation, fresh graduates are at the crossroads filled with many decisions. Aside from getting a job, new graduates also have to decide whether to stay where they are or move to another city. Here are five cities in America that most fresh graduates choose to live after graduation.
San Francisco, California
According to the American Institute for Economic Research, San Francisco is the top destination of many students right after graduation for many reasons. The main draw, however, is Silicon Valley where there's a lot of internship opportunities whether it be in tech giant companies or startups. Aside from that, San Francisco is also a place where there's a diverse range of cultures as well as beautiful places to go to.
Boston, Massachusetts
Aside from its high concentration of colleges and universities, Boston also has a high labor-force participation which puts it at par with San Francisco. In fact, Boston rents are cheaper than San Francisco. It also has a lot of transportation alternatives, such as the subway and bikes, making commuting easy. However, one of the downsides of Boston is its lack of racial and ethnic diversity.
Washington D.C.
When it comes to demographics, Washington DC is on top of the pack but when it comes to its quality of life, it is in the middle of the overall list. However, Washington DC is still one of the prime destinations among fresh graduates because of its international and political environment.
Minneapolis
Minneapolis, together with St. Paul, have very diverse economy and considered as one of the major contributors to the general economy of the country. From tech to the arts, Minneapolis has a lot to offer to fresh graduates.
Seattle
Seattle comes in as the fifth top destinations of fresh graduates in the AIER ranking. Two of the greatest draws of Seattle is, of course, Amazon and Microsoft which provides a lot of opportunities for internship in the tech sector. Aside from that, Seattle is popular for its vibrant scene as well as diversity in commuting.
