Check out Xiaomi Mi 6's latest news and update!

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its premium flagship, Mi 6, this year. A recent report on its processor could hint at how powerful the handset can be.

Xiaomi will reportedly release two models of Mi 6. The standard edition will pair 4GB RAM with 128 GB storage whilst the Pro variant will get 6 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory.

Previous report suggests that there will be fingerprint sensor mounted at the phone's front panel. It will also have dual-lens camera module - which makes Mi 6 the first Xiaomi phone to have the setup. Phandroid has learned that both Mi 6 models will sport curved display.

In addition to the premium innards, Mi 6 is said to use a Snapdragon 835 chipset. Qualcomm just introduced the latest SoC at CES 2017 and the stunner could boost a handset in many departments.

Snapdragon 835 uses TensorFlow system, which is able to perform at a faster rate in recognizing objects - making a device better in app performance, Android Authority reported. Integrated in the chip, world-class Hexagon DSP processor is able to functions excellently in multimedia and modem departments, including image and signal processing.

The computations allow Snapdragon 835 to be compatible with personal AI assistants, gaming, and more heavy duty needs - with faster process.

Obviously, Samsung's upcoming smartphone will be rocking the chipset but Xiaomi's debut with the SoC is what makes the phone more interesting. It could be the first Chinese handset rocking the latest chipset and if Xiaomi could sell Mi 5 for $339, the Mi 6 might be just a solid choice for an affordable premium smartphone this year.
