A 25-year-old construction worker died Tuesday after falling four stories from Texas A&M's football stadium in College Station, Texas, Reuters reported.
Angel Garcia, an employee of Lindamood Demolition, was working on the $450 million renovation of Kyle Field when the accident happened at 11:25 a.m. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas.
Texas A&M System, Manhattan-Vaughan Construction, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Texas A&M University Police Department are investigating the accident, according to a press release from the school.
"On behalf of Texas A&M University and the extended Aggie family I offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the construction worker who tragically passed away," Texas A&M University President R. Bowen Loftin said in a statement.
According to the Examiner, the incident comes only a day after another deadly fall took place at another stadium, Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. However, the deadly fall was a homicide rather than an accident. Officials believe the incident was a "vehicle break-in turned violent and gone terribly wrong."
Kyle Field is currently undergoing a redevelopment project that began immediately after the last home game of the 2013 Texas A&M football season.
The stadium is home to one of the top-ranked football teams in the country this season, and hopes to boost its seating capacity to 102,000 from 82,6000 for the 2015 season, making it the largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference.
