Gabriel Fenteany, a 46-year-old University of Connecticut (UConn) chemistry professor, has been arrested for urinating in a parking lot and ripping side-view mirrors off four cars parked at Lafayette Court, Greenwich, in a drunken state.

According to Greenwich police, the alleged incident occurred Oct. 26, when Fenteany was visiting a resident. The intoxicated president walked through parking lots "urinating, spitting, kicking, and ripping the side view mirrors off high-end cars," Courant reports.

The cars were a 2014 BMW 328xi, a 2013 Audi Q7, a 2013 Audi TT RS, a 2004 Lexus ES330, a 2003 Lexus GS300, and a 2011 Honda Civic.

Fenteany, an associate professor at UConn has been charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace.

Stephanie Reitz, UConn spokesperson, said that Fenteany has been placed on administrative leave and has been banned from attending campus pending the outcome of the investigation by both the police and the school.

UConn was established in 1881 as the Storrs Agricultural School. It was named after Charles and Augustus Storrs, two brothers, who donated the land for the school and initial funding.

Also referred to as Public Ivy, UConn is a Land Grant and Sea Grant college, and a member of the Space Grant Consortium and Universitas 21.

The public research university participates in the American Athletic Conference (The American) as the Huskies. They have been particularly successful in their Men's and Women's Basketball programs. Overall, the Huskies have won a total of 16 NCAA championships.
