A computer that fits into the wallet? Now, that's interesting and Intel is making it happen. Intel has just introduced the new Intel Compute Card during the CES 2017 event. The new computer is the size of a credit card yet as powerful as the MacBook.
Previously, Intel also released a USB stick that turns into a portable PC and it runs Windows 10. Intel is at it again. Developing a portable device that could let a monitor perform like a full desktop just by plugging the card in it. What's even making the Compute Card is that it can perform fully like the MacBook minus the screen.
Intel Compute Card is about 3.7 inches by 2.2 inches and 0.2 inches thick. It will run the 7th Gen Intel Kaby Lake processor, probably the Core M and Y-series along with Core i5 and i7 CPUs. although this remains to be confirmed. The card will also support Bluetooth connection, a storage (no details of how big the storage is as of yet), and a wireless connectivity, the Daily Mail reported. However, the card will not be sold to consumers at the moment for it is only available for Intel partners.
That is why Intel is currently working with other manufacturers like Dell, Lenovo, HP, and Sharp to have them include a slot for the card in their devices like, refrigerator, security cameras, PC and other home appliances. The Compute Card works only if it is inserted into the said devices and even into robots. In addition, the card can also be used to deliver the latest processors to PCs that weren't updated.
The Intel's new PC will also be have different extensions so it can be inserted in different ports such as USB-C ports, USB, PCle, DisplayPort and HDMI, BGR reported. The Compute Card is expected to shipped in mid 2017.
