The Atlanta Hawks are looking to shake up their roster after finding themselves hovering around the .500 mark. They look to start by trading Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and Thabo Sefolosha.
According to CBS Sports, Paul Millsap could opt out of his current deal that would make him an unrestricted free agent in the summer. The Atlanta Hawks don't want to risk losing him for nothing, which is what happened when Al Horford chose to sign with the Boston Celtics. Fortunately, the team didn't lose much after successfully signing Dwight Howard with them.
The Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors are interested in trading for Paul Millsap, according to ESPN. Reports say the Nuggets were close to finalizing a deal but the Hawks ultimately decided to keep Millsap with them. However, the Hawks have a high price for Millsap that would make him hard to move since other teams are looking at a half season rental for the big man, unless they could convince him to sign an extension with them.
Paul Millsap recently led the Hawks to a two-point overtime victory against Western Conference powerhouse the San Antonio Spurs with 32 points and 13 rebounds, NBA.com reported. For the season, he is currently averaging 17.4 points per game and 8 rebounds per game. He is also nearing his 32nd birthday, which might turn off potential suitors for the former All-star.
If Paul Millsap gets traded before the trade deadline, he would be joining his third team after the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks. Reports say that Millsap has already opted out of the final year of his current Haws deal which would have paid him around $21.5 million next season. If the Hawks are unable to trade Millsap, they could focus their attention on trading Korver and Sefolosha instead.
