Earlier this November, Huawei released its Mate 9 model that is packed with cutting-edge specs that could rival other phablets in the market such as Samsung's Note 7. Now, the Chinese company has introduced the phone in a new color variant, called "Obsidian Black," that gives the handset a more professional business look.
Standing as Huawei's coveted phablet mobile phone, Mate 9's Obsidian Black variant is similar to other models in all aspects, particularly the market price and its specifications. Initially, the device is offered in color variants namely champagne gold, mocha gold, ceramic white, silver moonlight, and the sky gray.
Specs-wise, the phone comes with a 5.9-inch IPS LCD screen with 373 PPI (Pixels Per Inch) and full HD screen resolution, Mobile reported. Its 1080p resolution should maximize its potential for Daydream VR.
As per its internal chassis, the Huawei Mate 9 is powered with the company's in-house built System on Chip (SoC), the Kirin 970. The SoC features the recently unveiled ARM Mali-G71 GPU, coupled with 4GB of RAM and a 32GB of storage capacity as the standard model.
In its optics department, the handset sports a second-generation Leica dual-lens camera. The Mate 9 will carry a dual 20MP (Megapixels), coupled with 12MP camera setup for its rear camera. The combination promotes improved colour accuracy, depth perception, and contrast.
Other features in its rear camera includes an optical image stabilisation (OIS), Hybrid Zoom, dual-tone dual-LED flash, a '4-in-1' Hybrid Autofocus system, with contrast, depth, laser, and phase detection autofocus systems all combined. Its 8MP front-facing snapper comes with an f/1.9 aperture.
Under the cameras is a fingerprint scanner that will unlock the smartphone and should work with mobile payment systems.
The phone also runs on Android's latest operating system version, the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. It also houses a rather large battery capacity of 4,000mAh.
According to Xiaomi Today, the price for the Huawei Mate 9 Obsidian Black varies depending on the model. The prices for the model is pegged at 3,399 Yuan (roughly around $489) for the 4GB/32GB model (RAM/Storage), 3,899 Yuan ($561) for the 4GB/64GB, and 4,499 Yuan ($647) for the premium 6GB/128GB version.
