Chinese manufacturer Huawei has continued to be in full throttle as it recently crossed the 10 million mark in its shipments of the P9 range smartphones launched in London. Huawei P9 and P9 Plus, which are packed with interesting technology, had made a positive impression to consumers turning out 33.59 million smartphones shipped in the third quarter of this year.

The announcement came from the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) Richard Yu, who also revealed that the dual-lens of Huawei P9/P9 Plus devices were Huawei's first flagship smartphones to be developed in collaboration with legendary German camera brand Leica, GS Marena reported.

It can be recalled that both phones resembles that of the excellent Nexus 6P as it comes with just 6.95mm thickness and a bezel that measures just 1.7 mm. Its curved edges are designed for a comfortable hold while the phone is constructed with a full metal unibody for an impressive handset look.

The Huawei P9 features a 5.2-inch display with a 1920×1080 resolution, resulting in a very decent 423 pixels per inch. As such, the handset is pretty much the same size as last year's P8. According to Android Authority, Huawei remained committed to its opinion that going above and beyond a 1080p resolution is just isn't worth the additional hit to battery life.

P9 Plus, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch display, making it a slightly larger handset compared to P9. It also swaps out the LCD panel for an AMOLED alternative and boasts a display capable of 500 nits peak brightness and 96 percent saturation. There is also a reappearance in both models of the Press Touch display technology of Huawei, which debuted with the Mate S.

As for performance, the Huawai P9 features an in-house Kirin 955 SoC build on 16nm FinFET, a slightly beefed up version of the 950 that was featured in the Mate 8. The chip boasts an octa-core CPU configuration built from four Cortex-A72 and four Cortex-A53 cores for a balance of power and energy efficiency. The chip also features a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, which is certainly the most powerful graphics chip in a Huawei phone to date but won't quite rival the Mali-T880 MP12 configuration packed into the Samsung Galaxy S7, the same publication reported.

As for Huawei P9 Plus, PC Advisor noted that it features the same Kirin 955 processor (a 64-bit octa-core chip) as its smaller brother but with a few notable upgrades including more RAM at 4GB instead of 3GB, and a base storage of 64GB. Huawei P9 Plus also features a MicroSD card slot which can expand the internal storage by up to 128GB.

It is worth noting that Huawei P9 and P9 Plus come in six different colors, ranging from Ceramic White, Titanium Grey, Mystic Silver, Haze Gold, Prestige Gold and Rose Gold. With these new phones out in the market today, we are pretty sure that consumers have a tough time choosing between these two new Huawei smartphones.
