Will Hall Joins UWG as Head Football Coach
ByWill Hall has been named the new head football coach of University of West Georgia (UWG). Hall will be replacing Daryl Dickey, who served both as head coach and West Georgia Athletics Director (AD).
Hall held the same position for the last three seasons at University of West Alabama (UWA). He successfully led the team to consecutive Gulf South Conference championships, earning him the coach of the year title twice in the NCAA Division II conference.
"I am extremely excited to be the head football coach at West Georgia," Hall said in a statement. "A lot of time, effort and money have been put into building this football program over the last few years. I feel like the vision of both Dr. Marrero and Coach Dickey for this place is unbelievable."
Even before officially taking over as the head coach at UWG, Hall has already listed the goals to be achieved during his tenure at the school.
"We will work tirelessly to continue to build on the foundation that has been laid," Hall said. "Wolves fans will be proud of our players both on and off the field. We must unite as one from this point forward to make this place what it should be. It is time to take the next step and become a perennial power, not only in this conference, but throughout the nation."
Dickey stepped down from the coaching position after the end of the season. He called Hall as one of the brightest young stars in the game.
"This is a very exciting day for UWG athletics," said Dickey. "We have been able to attract one of the brightest young stars to lead our football program into the future and to join our university and Carrollton community. Coach Hall is the right man at the right time, and I am extremely excited about the direction and future of our football program."
West Georgia went 6-5 this year, losing 45-14 at West Alabama on Oct. 26.
Meanwhile, West Alabama has named Desmond Lindsey as interim coach. Lindsey served the last three seasons as assistant head coach under Hall.
