In a filing with the Eurasian Economic Commission last month, the HTC X10 was spotted listed in the said filing. Nothing was known of the device at that time except for its name. All that is changed now for a leak revealed the HTC X10's key specs, its price points, even details of its availability.
HTC X10 key specs, price, and availability
The leaked specs of the HTC X10 indicated that a MediaTek Helio P10 SoC. would reportedly power the device. The SoC features true octa-core 2 GHz CPU Cortex-A53 cores supported by a MALI-T860 GPU clocked at 700MHz.
It would also sport a 5.5-inch Full HD touchscreen. It is reportedly equipped with 3GB of RAM with a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization. The unit will cost around $288, reportedly. The HTC X10 will be unveiled sometime in January 2017, according to GSMArena.
The HTC X10 was reportedly spotted among six other devices. The other information regarding the device is that it will have two variants having single and dual-SIM, according to Android Authority. The HTC X10 will reportedly run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Closer observation of the leaked specs has pundits noticing a lack of a fingerprint scanner for the mid-range HTC X10 for similarly priced or lower smartphones in its class. However, the leaked specs might still be amended or updated once the official announcement of the unit pushes through during the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 (CES 2017) next year.
HTC was at one time one of the distinguished smartphone vendors with the Evo and the Hero stamping out its mark in a very fickle and fast-changing market. However, it lost out to Samsung's Galaxy S-series as well as its market share got smaller with the sprouting of other Chinese vendors offering competitively priced devices at the mid-level and entry-level segments.
The coming HTC X10 might as well be HTC's chance to re-establish itself back in the market. Meanwhile, there are also reports that HTC will also be unveiling another flagship unit the HTC 11 in a few months from now.
