The HTC Vive VR headset is currently on sale on the Microsoft Store in the United States. The special discount also comes with free games and a gift card.
Those who wish to purchase the HTC Vive VR can now get it online or from physical stores for $699, Phone Arena reported. That's a $100 discount from the typical price.
Aside from the discount, buyers will also get a free $100 Microsoft Store gift card and two free games -- "The Gallery - Episode 1: Call of the Starseed" and "Zombie Training Simulator." The HTC Vive VR box contains a headset with 3-in-1 cable and audio cable, 2 wireless controllers with lanyards, 2 micro-USB chargers, 2 base stations, a mounting kit, and earbuds, among others, MSPoweruser listed.
In a separate deal on the Microsoft Store, consumers who buy an HTC Vive VR will also get GeForce GTX graphics card, desktop, or laptop and get three free VR games -- "Serious Sam VR," "Sports Bar VR," and "RAW DATA." These are all worth $1,138.99, which puts it with a $200 discount.
To use the HTC Vive VR, a PC is required to have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 480 equivalent graphics card, or something better than that. The PC should run using an Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 equivalent, or better.
Aside from those requirements, the PC should have at least 4GB of RAM, one or more USB 2.0 ports, and an HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 or newer. The operating system should be Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10.
HTC Vive VR users are safe from bumping on walls or furniture thanks to the Chaperone system. The feature warns users if they are approaching physical obstructions. The headset is also equipped with a front-facing camera that allows users to peek at the real world and perform meager tasks, all without leaving the VR world that they're currently exploring.
The HTC Vive VR contains a multitude of game selections that can overwhelm newbie players. Some titles, however, stand out among the rest.
Newcomers to the HTC Vive VR should prioritize playing Valve's "The Lab," "Budget Cuts Demo," "Space Pirate Trainer," "Elite Dangerous," and "Job Simulator," Polygon listed. Majority of these games are available on the Oculus Rift and Steam, as well. The best experiences, meanwhile, are Google's "Tilt Brush," "Waltz of the Wizard," and "Google Earth VR."
