The Xiaomi Mi 6 release date is getting conflicting reports as a Weibo leak indicates a Valentine's Day launching while other Weibo leaksters suggest an April release due to the delay in Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. Xiaomi is not making any official announcements, but consumers are expecting the device to be announced during the Mobile World Congress 2017 in February.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is highly anticipated because of its great specs and features, a mark of a powerful phone. However, the Chinese has not given any official announcement as to the successor of the Mi 5, leading consumers to rely on conflicting reports as detailed below.

Xiaomi Mi 6 February Release

A Chinese leakster with the Weibo username, KJuma, has posted a teaser photo yesterday in the popular Chinese microblogging site Weibo, GSM Arena has learned. The leaked photo looked like an invite poster of the Xiaomi Mi 6 with a highlighted number 6 in the middle and a caption that is translated into English saying Xiaomi will have a new launch event in Spring 2017 or Feb. 14, Valentine's Day.

Moreover, the alleged teaser photo also has the Chinese words crudely translated by Google to "want, all have." The words clearly suggest reference to the Xiaomi Mi 6 with its excellent specs and features that many consumers will want and have.

Xiaomi Mi 6 April Release

However, other Weibo leaksters and marketing analysts point to April 2017 as the most likely release date for the Xiaomi Mi 6. The reason of the delay is that Samsung has to wait until Qualcomm unveils the Snapdragon 835 due for release on the first quarter of 2017.

If the Snapdragon 835 chipset are delayed, then it will impact not only the Xiaomi Mi 6 release, but also the Samsung Galaxy S8 and other top-end phones currently using the latest chipset from Qualcomm according to Softpedia.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Key Specs and Features

The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and come with dual-curved screen variant, possibly a Xiaomi Mi 6 Edge or something similar but unique. Other possible variants may include the Xiaomi Mi 6s, Mi 6E, and Mi 6P.

Moreover, the recent leaked photo reveal a single lens camera, not the dual camera set-up as previously reported. Other reported features include the ultra-narrow frame with four antennas, dual-rear camera and fast charging features.

To recap, the Xiaomi Mi 6 could be announced any time within the February to April timeframe, which is also the schedule followed by many smartphone companies when unveiling a new product. However, consumers are hoping that Xiaomi will make an official announcement on MWC 2017 this February.
