Huawei Honor 8 will reportedly get Android 7.0 Nougat update in February 2017. Here's the detail!

Android 7.0 Nougat for Honor 8 is coming soon

It has been officially announced that a few of Huawei handsets will be receiving Nougat update in Q1 2017. Honor 8 is said to get Android's latest firmware version in February, NDTV reported.

Huawei hasn't stated the exact release date and it's uncertain whether older handsets will also receive the update. While Mate 9 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed, Honor 8 runs Android Marshmallow out of the box.

In addition to the Android update, the device will be getting the latest custom skin, EMUI 5.0. The newest user interface will bring add more security layers and bring improvement in user experience.

The special feature of EMUI 5.0 is the machine learning algorithm that enables the device to analyze user's behavior such as which apps are mostly-used, as reported by GSM Arena. In Huawei's press release, the company claims that EMUI 5.0 ROM is able to optimize resources and increase battery efficiency.

Huawei Honor 8 full specifications

Honor 8 is a 5.2-inch device with 423 ppi pixel density. It is powered by Kirin 950 chip and has 4GB RAM on board. There are two ROM variants: 32 GB and 64 GB.

The optics pair dual 12 MP lens with 8 MP selfie shooter. The 3,000 mAh battery features superfast charging with 47 percent completed in 30 minutes. Other components include USB type C port and fingerprint scanner.

Huawei Honor 8 is available in four colors: Gold, Midnight Black, Pearl White and Sapphire Blue.
