Suicide Squad Director David Ayer recently said in an interview that the Harley Quinn spinoff movie, Gotham City Sirens would feature more of the love story between Harley Quinn and the Joker. This comes after fans complained about the lack of screen time for the Joker in Suicide Squad.
According to Express, Jared Leto revealed that the Suicide Squad DVD contains a lot of Joker footage that were not seen in the final cut of the movie. He has also expressed interest in returning to the role of the Joker if the fans welcome his version of Batman's no. 1 nemesis. He said in an interview that
There has been no announcement from Warner Bros. and DC on whether or not there will be male characters in Gotham City Sirens but Ben Affleck is expected to reprise his role as Batman. It is also looking more and more likely that Jared Leto will also play the Joker in Gotham City Sirens. Will Smith has expressed interest in reprising his role as Deadshot in the movie and said in an interview that he loved working with Margot Robbie and would love to do it again.
Ayer recently confirmed top female villains Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy will be showcased in Gotham City Sirens. The movie will be also be directed by David Ayer and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Margot Robbie is also an executive producer in the movie. There has been no plot announced but the movie is expected to follow the unlikely alliance of Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy as they wreak havoc unto Gotham City.
According to Comic Book, Gotham City Sirens will start production in summer of 2017 even though no release date has been announced. Aside from Margot Robbie once again playing Harley Quinn, nobody else has been announced for the cast even though that is expected to change soon. Fans consider Megan Fox as their choice for Poison Ivy and Odette Annable as their choice for Catwoman.
