In a rematch of last season's NBA Finals of Cavs vs Warriors, Cleveland once again escaped with a victory. Kyrie Irving made a difficult shot over the outstretched arms of Klay Thompson to put his team up by one with under four seconds remaining for the final basket.
According to ESPN, the Cavaliers were down by 14 early in the fourth quarter in the Cavs vs Warriors game until they managed to chip in and took the lead thanks to the clutch shot from Irving. It was reminiscent of Irving's step-back three-point shot over two-time MVP Stephen Curry in Game 7 of last season's NBA Finals. The shot ended up giving the Cleveland Cavaliers their first NBA Championship and the city of Cleveland their first major professional sports championship since 1964.
Kevin Durant, according to CBS Sports, proved that this rivalry would be different now that he is a Golden State Warrior as he finished with 36 points on 11-23 shooting. There was also a sequence where he and LeBron James made consecutive dunks for their teams. However, not all things were good for Durant in the Cavs vs Warriors game as he went 0-2 in the final five minutes.
The Cavs vs Warriors game brought back memories of the memorable NBA Finals matchup between the 73-win Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. After being down 3-1, the Cavaliers became the first team in history to come back and win the NBA title. The teams meet again on Jan. 16 at Golden State and won't meet again unless they become the two teams that come out in their respective conferences in June.
After the Cavs vs Warriors game, the Cavaliers visit the Pistons on Monday where LeBron James is expected to take the night off after playing 41 minutes in this game. The Warriors' next game will be hosting the Raptors which will begin a five game homestand.
