"The 100" season 4 trailer has revealed a more feral, darker and frightening world that Clarke must face to save as many people as she can primarily from the impending second apocalypse, but also from Octavia's killing spree and clan wars. It is reportedly the bloodiest season to date, but may also be the most dramatic as Clarke needs to make huge decisions that could impact the survival of humankind on Earth.

Here is a recap of what "The 100" season 4 trailer has offered its viewers on what to expect when the show returns. Interviews from cast members and showrunner Jason Rotheberg also provided information including a few hints how big season 4 will be.

"The 100" Threat of the Second Apocalypse

Last season of "The 100" featured A.L.I.E. (Erica Cerra) informing Clarke and company that the planet is about to suffer another catastrophe from the radiation leaks of abandoned nuclear plants found all over the planet. Clarke (Eliza Taylor) believes that they could find a fallout shelter of some kind and try to save as many people as they can.

"The 100" season 4 trailer already revealed horrific glimpses of this second apocalypse as people fall down on their knees, appearing to burn from the inside and out. Acid rains begin to fall with persons caught under it screaming for pain.

Sores and lesions marked people's skins and toward the end even Clarke has them. There is also the threat of the lack of drinkable water according.

"The 100" Octavia As Sky Ripper

Octavia is on a killing spree as an assassin for hire, now fearfully called the "Sky Ripper," which means "Death from Above." Marie Avgeropoulos in an interview with ScreenerTV confirmed her character's turn for the worse, following the death of her lover Lincoln (Ricky Whittle) in "The 100" season 3.

Looking back on Octavia's back story in previous episodes of "The 100" provide a plausible explanation for her change starting from an unpleasant history of being born and raised underneath the floor. She also lost the only person who believed in her and helped her to be a Grounder and a warrior, resulting in the death of Pike (Michael Beach), whom Octavia blames for Lincoln's execution.

"The 100" Battle of the Clans

There will be more clashes among the clans, pitting the Grounder, Sky People and the Ice nation against one another. Interestingly enough, "The 100" season 4 trailer shows Clarke appearing by herself before Roan (Zach McGowan) and the Grounder Army according to the Inquisitr.

"The 100" season 4 returns on February 1, 2017 at 9p.m. ET/PT on the CW. Watch "The 100" season 4 first trailer below.
