The BCS formula has placed Ohio State with the slimmest of leads over Baylor, but even still, Urban Meyer is not happy with college football's "flawed" system.

Meyer and his Ohio State Buckeyes have spent a lot of time in the top-five, but never first or second. This is the last year the top two teams will automatically play for the National Championship before shifting to a four-team playoff system and the Buckeyes are extremely close to getting into the game and also to being left out.

According to the BCS standings formula, Ohio State trails Florida State by 0.0792 percentage points and leads Baylor by just 0.0013.

"Without spending much time on it, because it's not fair to our team for me to spend much time on it, I will say this - I think it's a flawed system," Meyer told ESPN. "But when you logically think about what the BCS people have done, and which obviously we're all part of, I think it was great for a while. I think you take an imperfect system and you do the best you can without hosting a playoff."

Nest year, the College Football Playoff selection committee will select four teams to enter into a BCS National Championship tournament. By that standard, Ohio State and Baylor would both qualify for the tournament to have a shot at playing for the crystal football trophy.

"I imagine there's going to be controversy with the playoffs too, now," Meyer said. "It's not a 64-team playoff; you can only have four guys. What's that fifth team going to feel like?"

Ohio State center Corey Linsley, a senior, said the team can only focus on winning now to try and make their way into the National Championship game.

"The only thing we can concentrate on is how do we advance further in the BCS, how do we keep ahead of Baylor? That's just the reality. How do we get to the national championship? That's our goal. That's the only thing we can control, and that's really what we're focused on," he said. "We're disappointed by [winning at Illinois] 60-35. We didn't cover whatever spread that we needed to, didn't score enough points to boost up our rating. That's a reason why we're disappointed with the way that we played. It's reality."
